The right choice of base units is key when designing a kitchen, as they not only determine its functionality and capacity, but also the features and layout of other elements such as the work surface, wall units or tall units. Santos has an extensive range of sizes for these units, making it possible to design completely one-of-a-kind and personalised kitchens.
Units tailored to users
The Santos modular system lets customers choose the height of the unit, the plinth and the worktop, in contrast to other options where only the height of the latter two can be changed. Thus, by mixing and matching these three variables depending on the criteria of ergonomics and capacity, comfortable and practical compositions that are tailored to the height of the users and make the most of all available space can be created.
The carcasses of Santos base units are available in three heights—84, 78 and 66 cm—, five depths—35, 45, 60, 65 and 70 cm—and twelve widths—15, 30, 40, 45, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 105 and 120 cm. There are also special base units whose carcasses come in specific measurements. This is the case for blind corner base units, with eight widths—98, 103, 108, 113, 118, 123, 128 and 133 cm —, and the corner base units, with widths of 90 and 95 cm. Furthermore, Santos has an extra wide variant intended for the manufacture of bespoke units with side opening doors.
Base units with greater depths are perfect for creating large work surfaces while those with lesser depths can provide additional storage space on islands, peninsulas or tricky areas in the layout.
Solutions for each area of the kitchen
The complete range of base units offers specific solutions for the different needs detected in each area of the kitchen.
Sink unit
Santos has twenty-nine sink unit models, which suit the different heights of its base units and the users’ needs. The parts of these units that are most likely to come into contact with water are built with laminated marine board as standard, a material that is very resistant to moisture, detergents and wear.
All models are available in depths of 60 or 65 cm, with widths from 45 to 120 cm, and also for installation in blind corners. They can come with one or two doors, and up to two double drawers to hold cleaning products and utensils, as well as waste recycling bins in the bottom or top double drawer. In the latter case, a middle panel found between both double drawers prevents odours or moisture from seeping through, thus ensuring that food can be safely stored in the bottom double drawer. Furthermore, the back of the top double drawer has an opening to have enough room to clear the sink drain, thus gaining valuable space.
Hob drawer unit
Santos has fifteen models of hob drawer unit models, with depths of 60, 65 and 70 cm and all widths from 60 cm onwards. They have space for the hob ranging from 6.1 to 16 cm in height, which varies depending on the type of unit and the drawers or double drawers chosen. They are built with a shorter back to allow air circulation at the back of the unit.
Oven units
The range of Santos oven units has seven variants, with a depth of either 60 or 65 cm and a width of either 60 or 90 cm, which fit ovens that are either 60 or 45 cm in height.
Storage unit and drawer unit
Santos has a range of forty-two storage units, available in all the depths and widths of the base units, in a sliding version or with doors and for blind corner layouts. It also offers specific units such as units with pull-out tables.
Plinth drawer unit
The plinth drawers designed by Santos offer users an additional tier of storage in the lower area of the kitchen, making the most of the unit’s full height. They can be combined with units 66 cm in height, and are available in four depths—45, 60, 65 and 70 cm—, three heights—24, 26 and 28 cm—and all widths from 45 cm onwards.
